Meet the Author and Game Developer
Dr. Gina Mancini, a passionate dentist and children’s author, is the creator of Tabitha & Tanner the Tooth children’s books. She was inspired by her desire to help children, parents, and caregivers embrace dental care and to reduce the number of children suffering from one of the most chronic childhood diseases, dental caries (tooth decay). Dr. Mancini wrote these books to make learning about oral health fun and engaging and in the hopes of reaching children in her local community and across the world. With her background in dentistry and love for storytelling, she created a world where dental visits are no longer intimidating, but exciting adventures in hopes of reducing the more than 16 million children suffering from this preventable disease.
In addition to her writing, Dr. Mancini collaborated with her son, Joshua Mancini, a talented game design student at High Point University, to bring Tabitha and Tanner to life in the newly released video game, SMILE HEROES, THE GAME. The game was developed to further engage children in learning about dental health in an interactive and entertaining way. Through these projects, Dr. Mancini and Joshua aim to make dental education accessible, enjoyable, and effective for the next generation.
